About

Hi, I’m Anthea, the creator of Best Hair Styling Tools Guide.

I’ve spent over a decade exploring the world of hairstyling — from testing everyday tools at home to keeping up with professional salon trends. My love for hair styling started with experimenting on friends and family, and over the years it’s grown into a passion for helping others find the right tools for their unique hair type and lifestyle.

To make sure the advice here is reliable, I review products by:

  • Comparing features against trusted sources like Good Housekeeping, Allure, and Cosmopolitan Beauty Awards.

  • Following safety and styling guidelines from dermatologists and haircare experts published in The Journal of Cosmetic Science and American Academy of Dermatology.

  • Testing tools myself and gathering feedback from everyday users as well as professional stylists in my network.

My goal is simple: to give you clear, honest, and practical guidance so you can confidently choose tools that work — without the overwhelm.

When I’m not testing the latest hot air brush or straightener, you’ll find me writing tutorials on heat protection, sharing budget-friendly finds, and breaking down what really makes a styling tool worth your money.

Why trust me? I combine hands-on experience with research from respected beauty publications and scientific sources, so every review and tip comes with a mix of personal trial, expert insight, and industry knowledge.

A Personal Reflection

I think my obsession started when I was young and my mum used to do my hair. It was generally in a pony tail for school and sometimes my dad would plait my hair. Because my dad had grown up around horses he was an expert at plaits and braids. I especially remember if we were going to a special event that mum would want my hair curled. I have always had really straight hair and always been envious of people with curly hair! So, before any important event my mum would put my hair in rags. She would take long lengths of cloth and weave my hair around it. I would sleep (or try to sleep) that night with the rags in my hair. While I didn’t love the discomfort, I adored the long ringlets which I had the next day when mum took the rags out of my hair. So began my obsession with hair and my career path. Happy styling.
